Inaugural Ceremony @ MIT

MIT inaugurated Susan Hockfield as its 16th president on Friday, May 6. The community is invited to attend an array of celebratory events scheduled throughout the week of May 2.

Susan Hockfield was elected MIT's 16th president on August 26, 2004, and assumed office on December 6, 2004. Her inauguration will be held May 6, 2005. A noted neuroscientist, Dr. Hockfield served as Provost of Yale University prior to joining the MIT community. Dr. Hockfield's biography is available on an accompanying page.
Founded in 1861, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is a coeducational, privately endowed research university. The Institute is dedicated to advancing knowledge and educating students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century.
